If the DPF does not get clogged by ash from oil, then why do they require the use of low ash oil? 08 2500 6.7L G56 4x4 QC LB, Edge Juice (w/Att), Firestone Airbags, 2" Level Lift, DPF substrate removed, 4 H&S fooler boxes, EGR blocked, muffler delete, dent in fender from a bison, LT285/75-17 Toyo ATs After approximately 36 gallons (136 L) of fuel used since the last regeneration. A maximum distance of 800 miles (1287 km) have been traveled since the last regeneration. A pre-determined number of engine hours since the last regeneration. A calculated or measured soot mass of 100% in the particulate filter.
Because the DPF is under the car, not 'close coupled' in the exhaust manifold, the car needs to be driven quite a long way (50 miles) at 2000 - 2500 rpm to get the DPF hot enough to promote a passive regeneration.
The DPF can be an issue particularly on cars primarily used for short trips. Take it for a long Highway run which will allow the DPF to do a few regeneration cycles up at temperature to burn off accumulated diesel soot within the unit. Hard acceleration is also another recommendation I have read to stop accumulated soot building!

First check the voltage feed to the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. This should read between 12 and 14.8 volts at idle. At idle, the failed resistor was sending 16 volts to the MAF. This truck is a 24-volt system fitted with a 12-volt MAF. 16 volts is too high for a 12-volt system and too low for a 24-volt system.
The frequency and length of regeneration will fluctuate as both are determined by the drive cycle. For most drive conditions, regeneration frequency will vary from 100 - 600 miles (161 - 804 Km) between occurrence and last from 10 to 40 minutes. The first regeneration does not require 100 miles (161 Km) and may occur at any time.
